Formation Pathways
Lay Preacher
The Moreton Rivers Presbytery seeks to provide a clear and
robust process in which the education and formation of Lay Preacher Candidates occurs. As such, it is befitting of the importance of this
ministry within the life of the UCA.
Ministry of Pastor
Pastor is a specified lay ministry of the church and means a lay person commissioned by a Presbytery … to minister within a Congregation, community or church-based organisation.
Phase 3 Formation
The Phase 3 Formation Program is aimed at enhancing the capacity of the minister as missional leader. The formation program seeks to resource newly ordained minsters with a flexible, directed approach to
ongoing formation under the oversight of the Presbytery.
Period of Discernment
The Period of Discernment (POD) is a formation pathway that provides participants with a unique opportunity to discern God’s leading in ministry. Through the POD, participants might discern a call to serve God’s
mission in a range of contexts including a workplace, local community, or church.
Internship
An internship provides people with a fully funded opportunity to enter ministry through a guided formational pathway in a context that is supportive and empowering of their leadership development. The intern pathway is specifically aimed at encouraging and developing emerging leaders.
Church Planting Leadership
The Leadership Pathway in either a start-up or replant is designed to provide flexibility for people’s entry into, and development toward, launching a new expression of a gathered community of faith.
